Robert F Hutton, past GSSB president passed away

Robert F. Hutton Indialantic Robert F. Hutton of Indialantic, FL passed away peacefully on Monday, February 23, 2009 at the William Childs Hospice House in Palm Bay, FL surrounded by his loving family. Bob is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Janet Stephens Hutton; and his children, Dr. Nancy Hutton and husband Dr. Larry Wissow of Baltimore, MD, Susan Gaskill and husband Lester of Mt. Laurel, NJ, Raymond Hutton and wife Judy of Atlanta, GA and Lynda Airey and husband Alan of Coppell, TX.

He is also survived by nine grandchildren, Bob, Tim and Kevin Gaskill, Stephen and Leah Wissow, Lindsey Hutton, and Dylan, Christine and Brandon Airey; a sister, Elizabeth Valenze of Massapequa, NY; his brother, John Hutton and wife Bonnie of Tampa, FL; an aunt, Doris Nelson of Newburgh, NY; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his precious grandson, Robby Hutton.

Bob was born in Newburgh, NY on November 2, 1928 to Mildred and Raymond F. Hutton. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps after high school, then graduated from the University of Vermont. He retired from the Equitable Life Assurance Society in 1985 and moved to Indialantic, FL where he enjoyed 25 years of retirement.

Bob loved life and had a special love for ice hockey, softball, genealogy, and was an avid stamp collector. He loved spending the summers at their cabin in Mountain Rest, SC. Wherever he lived, he participated actively in community and church activities.

While in Marlton, NJ, he served on the Township Council for ten years, was Mayor for three of those years, served on the Juvenile Panel and was a member of the Planning Board for 20 years. He was also a founding member of the Marlton Recreation Council, president of the Lions Club, and an active member of the Marlton Baptist Church.

Moving to Worthington, OH in 1978, Bob resumed his church activities as Deacon at the Dublin Baptist Church. After retiring to Indialantic FL, Bob served as president of The Genealogical Society of South Brevard and was a dedicated member of the First Baptist Church of Indialantic and then Eastminster Presbyterian Church. He volunteered his time to Daily Bread and Habitat for Humanity.

Bob will always be remembered for his special gift with children, his commitment and love for the Lord and his unconditional love for his family and friends. A memorial service will be held at the Eastminster Presbyterian Church in Indialantic, FL on Saturday, April 4, 2009 at 11a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Johns Hopkins Childrens Center/Robby Hutton Lectureship, One Charles Center, 100 N.
